A Giant Bowl That Sounds Like a Bell
It was New Year’s Eve and I accidentally banged my hand on a large ceramic bowl I was filling with chips. I was shocked at how much it sounded like a bell. I immediately emptied the bowl and sampled it using Ableton’s iOS app Note (check out this video on sampling with Note). I added some Delay and Reverb and had a pretty cool sounding instrument.
A few days later during Jamuary, I used this instrument to create this short jam:
Super Bowl Ableton Live Instrument Rack
The other day I was listening back to some of my Jamuary tracks and I decided that I wanted to have this bowl instrument in my collection. So I imported the Ableton Note Session into Ableton Live and built the Instrument Rack pictured below.
The BF Super Bowl Instrument Rack contains 16 Macros that allow you to sculpt the sound to fit your project. I added an Auto Pan device to create a Tremolo effect. The sample also loops towards the end so you can hold down longer notes and chords. Try out the 8 Macro Variations to get a sense of how diverse Super Bowl is.
