Free Ableton Live Pack #62: Moog Minitaur Madness w/ Francis Preve
Wield the Power of Moog's Minitaur with this Free Ableton Live Instrument!
It's a good time to be an analog synthesizer enthusiast. Companies like Moog, Arturia, Dave Smith, and Korg have all recently released affordable analog beasts. The Moog Minitaur is one of the finest of the bunch, so you can imagine my excitement when Francis Preve of Academik Records put out some free Minitaur instruments for Ableton Live. After downloading the Simpler instruments, I contacted Francis about collaborating on some Ableton Live Racks using his samples. Free Ableton Live Pack #62 is the result of our work.
In total, there are three Ableton Live Instrument Racks in this download. The first one makes use of the Frequency Modulation Oscillator in Ableton's Sampler. It is capable of some smooth, clean and deep tones, as well as gritty and abrasively destructive madness. This is the sound I am playing live in the video walkthrough.
Second, is another sampled instrument of the Moog Minitaur, that makes nice use of Sampler's Filter Envelop. This one is great for opening and closing filter effects, and sure to help you get your 80s sci-fi sound on. In the video, this is the swelling synth sound.
Finally is a slightly detuned and distorted Minitaur sample. I've added a few distortions, as well as chorus and grain delay. This synth gets nasty! If you want some terrifyingly aggressive bass and leads, look no further. This is the arpeggiated sound in the video below.
Needless to say, I'm really excited about this collaboration, Francis is someone I have learned a lot from over the years, he is a great voice in the community; check him out! Big thanks to everyone that has been following and enjoying the goodies on this page. Today is my birthday and I hope you enjoy this gift to you! Download it below for free :)
